Exploring Southern Heritage Through Food and Stories

A TIME FOR

REMEMBRANCE AND REVIVAL

Potliquor; a soulful journey through time, culture, food, and familial heritage.

Named after the nutrient-rich broth left from cooking greens, our event highlighted the resourcefulness, resilience, and rich traditions of Southern cuisine and the African American lived experiences.

On Memorial Day weekend, we came together not just to remember, but to actively honor our heritage through the sharing of food and stories.

It was a time for families to reconnect, for communities to heal, and for traditions to be passed down and celebrated.

We shared meals and stories, we honored our ancestors, celebrated our present, and nourished our future.

Agricultural Stories

We explored the rich tapestry of Black agricultural history, from sharecropping to modern farming, and how it shapes our food culture

Culinary Heritage

We sipped and savored traditional dishes like hoppin' john, cornbread with potliquor, and other soul-nourishing foods that tell the story of our resilience
